Tasked with the problem of connecting families to clean water, the Jua bag is an easy and affordable solution. It was designed primarily for sub-saharan africa, where families can travel up to 10 hours a day to get clean water. The Jua Bag is a system of water transportation that simultaneously decontaminates water using the suns uv rays. With the combination of materials seen above, we have taken the purification process down from a localized standard of two days, down to a potentially 6 hour process. We have found a way to attract more uv rays to the bag, and maximize their potential by reflecting the rays back and forth between the materials of the bag. With a ‘ziploc’ seal, the bag can be laid flat on the ground to increase the surface area of the sun to water
The prototype seen above was professionally manufactured using a high frequency welding facility. This ensures a flawless watertight seal around all of the edges. A bulkhead fitting with a one way valve was used to afford the different attachments, and each of the two attachments can screw on and off without leaking any water.
